The Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) has been administered cooperatively since 1933 by the Library of Congress, the National Park Service and the private sector. It's mission is to document and archive historic American structures through the use of drawings, written histories and large format photographs.

"Stone for this structure is from Shapers Quarry where much of the material for the early stone buildings originated. Here also was quarried stone for the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge."
