Canajoharie Palatine Chamber of Commerce
November 8, 2011
Call to Order, Attendance:
Janine Nelson called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. The following persons were present: Phyllis Lapi, Larry Pinto, Amy Kretser, Michele McGlone, Jim Gallo, Harry Barse, Janine Nelson, Valerie Deason, Marcy Matis, Linda Schott, Tim, and William Nelson.
Approval of Minutes:
The Secretary's minutes were presented by email. Michele McGlone made the motion to approve the minutes of October 11, 2011, seconded by Harry Barse. All in favor.
Treasurer's Report:
The Treasurer's report was passed out by Larry Pinto. Harry Barse made the motion to accept the Treasurer's report, seconded by Michele McGlone. All in favor.
Miscellaneous Items:
Michele reported that Anthony Palmentier agreed to be paid on an hourly rate for his work as Webmaster. The question was raised regarding selling the leather key chains on-line for a fundraiser. It was decided to look into the matter at the January budget meeting; perhaps a committee can be created to look into other fund-raising ideas. The pavilion at the Riverfront Park will be undergoing repairs shortly. Jeanine also noted that the "Rock Candy Run" will probably be held on either Labor Day or Columbus Day. It was decided that the chamber will not advertise upcoming events in the Magazine-Holiday Time. The magazine will not be published until the week of Thanksgiving.
October Fest:
There was a good turn-out for the event. The vendors were pleased and would like to return if this event is held next year. It may be held earlier in the month next year.
NPR:
It is time to renew, as the contract expires 11/21/11. It was decided to wait until April.
Nominating Committee:
Harry Barse named the following persons as candidates for the Board of Directors: Tim Robertson, Penny Page, Kim Lawrence, and himself. There are three openings on the board. The final candidates will be announced prior to the election, which will be held by ballot at the December 13 meeting. The board is responsible for preparing the budget, fundraising efforts, deciding how to help local businesses and meet 3-4 times a year. The current slate of officers has agreed to stay on another year. They are Dolores Jacksland, Janine Nelson, Michele McGlone, and Amy Kretser.
Bike Tour:
Janine noted that she had a meeting with Richard Rose, and a representative from the bike group regarding next year's Bike Tour. It was determined that the high school will remain as the camp site, as the suggestion to camp behind the museum did not work out. Music on Main Street that week will be held on Friday instead of Tuesday to provide entertainment for them. The museum will stay open later that evening as well. A committee needs to be formed to promote our area during the bike tour, such as T-shirts or other memorabilia for participants.
Old Business:
Janine Nelson noted that 12 holiday decorations have been ordered and the light poles should be installed shortly. Red bows and garlands will be added once the decorations are up. The decorations will be delivered and installed on November 21 for free by "The Experience" the creator of the decorations. Donations totaling $1000.00 have been received towards the cost of the decorations. Jeanine thanked everyone who took the time to comment on the decorations.
