MEETING MINUTES

Canajoharie Palatine Chamber of Commerce
December 13, 2011

Call to Order, Attendance:
Dolores Jacksland called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. The following persons were also present: Larry Pinto, Amy Kretser, Michele McGlone, Jim Gallo, Harry Barse, Janine Nelson, Marcy Matis, Linda Schott, Autumn Kraak, Tim Crosby, Gail Coppernoll, Laurie Weingart, Kim Lawrence and William Nelson.

Approval of Minutes:
The Secretary’s minutes were presented by email. Corrections to be noted on the November 8, 2011 minutes are that there are four openings on the Board of Directors, and the slate of officers should include Larry Pinto. Janine Nelson made the motion to approve the corrected minutes of November 8, 2011, seconded by Laurie Weingart. All in favor.

Treasurer’s Report:
The Treasurer’s report was passed out by Larry Pinto. Harry Barse made the motion to accept the Treasurer’s report, seconded by Laurie Weingart. All in favor.
 
Miscellaneous Items:
Laurie Weingart reported that she has met with a group from Fort Plain which is interested in combing efforts to create a community wide welcome brochure. Estimated cost is $1000 for 500 brochures. The ceiling/support posts of the pavilion at the Riverfront Park have been completed, many thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the installation. The rest of the pavilion will be painted in the spring by a volunteer. Ronald Dievendorf advised Dolores Jacksland that the Lions Club is sponsoring a 5-K run around the same time that the “Rock Candy Run” was going to be held. At this time plans are on hold for the run, Brad is also having trouble reaching RBC to discuss the run. The business’s that had open houses reported good attendance. Elves Nite Out was also well attended and the Village Green has been nicely decorated by volunteers.

Nominating Committee:
Harry Barse named the following persons as candidates for the Board of Directors: Tim Robertson, Harry Barse, Kim Lawrence, Penny Page and a write in candidate Autumn Kraak. The slate of officers is: Dolores Jacksland-President; Janine Nelson-Vice President; Amy Kretser-Secretary; Larry Pinto-Treasurer; and Laurie Weingart-Corresponding Secretary. Harry Barse passed out ballots and asked that members cast their votes. Harry Barse and Michele McGlone tallied the ballots. The Slate of Officers was elected; Board of Trustees: Harry Barse, Tim Robertson, Kim Lawrence and Autumn Kraak.

Fund Raising:
Janine Nelson has volunteered to do the T-shirts for the 2012 Bike Tour. Dolores Jacksland will do the Bowling event in May, $15.00 per person for 2 games, shoes, burger, fries and beverage. Estimated game times will be 4 pm and 6 pm. Dolores will also chair the committee for Elves Nite Out. A volunteer chair person is needed for the Street Fest activity. It should be moved to earlier in the season, and the owner of the Country Club would like to host the Silent Auction.

Laurie Weingart reported that she had sent out thank you letters to the Christmas Decoration donors. She also noted that new stationary is needed and it was suggested to change the logo to a picture of the bridge connecting our two communities. Harry stated he knew of a photographer who might have just the picture that will do the job. He will make contact with the person. Flowers were sent to Andrea Montanye as thanks for all the help she has provided to the chamber, and the chamber welcomes Kim Lawrence who is taking over for Andrea.

A new art club is forming and would like to host an art show is 2013, the Chamber is offering to help out at the show for a 50/50 split on the profits.

It was also noted that Sharon Springs sells license plate frames/holders as a means of fund raising. Dolores will look into the cost/profit and minimum order needed. It was also noted that there are “Dummy Light” leather key chains available as a fund raiser. Michele to contact the web master to inquire about selling Canajoharie items vie the WEB. Dolores noted that she had looked into Canajoharie “Dummy Light” magnets, but after viewing a few demo’s, she decided not to proceed with them. 

Upcoming Events:
December 31, 2011 Last Night events are shaping up. Button Sales are doing well and a map of event sites will be available.

The officers and board of directors will meet on January 2nd to work on a budget. The meeting will be at Janine Nelson’s house at 6 PM.

The next regular meeting will be held in April 2012. Date and time will be announced.

Dolores Jacksland read her annual report on all the activities and events the Chamber was involved with during the past year.

Adjournment:
Harry Barse made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Jim Gallo. All were in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:50 pm.
