Stone Arabia

A short drive up Route 10 from Palatine Bridge, Stone Arabia has some of the richest farmland in the country. Settled by Swiss and German farmers who emigrated here from the Hudson and Schoharie valleys, it was the breadbasket for Washington's troops in New York during the Revolutionary War. Colonel John Brown was killed by Butler's Rangers during the Battle of Stone Arabia and is buried behind the historic limestone Dutch Reformed Church.

In recent years Stone Arabia's fertile soil has attracted a thriving Amish community. Driving around the idyllic country roads of the township, you will find quilts, furniture, and farm products for sale.

How Stone Arabia got its name.
